The Lumberjacks tonight also honored the late Cally Belcher, a former Lumberjack football player, who tragically passed away from a brain aneurysm following a spring practice in 1994. Each year the Lumberjacks honor him by voting on a player to wear the coveted number 16 jersey. Jermaine Brown received this year's honor and wore number 16 for the game. Brown led the Lumberjacks in tackles tonight with eight.
The Lumberjacks struck first after a Jaheim Mullen interception led to a six-yard touchdown reception for Blaine Green to put the Lumberjacks up 7-0 with 12:52 left in the first quarter.
The defense then posted a three and out on the ensuing Demon possession and the Lumberjacks got the ball back with 10:38 left in the first quarter. SFA then drove 75 yards down the field capped off by Sam Vidlak's second touchdown pass of the night, this time to Kylon Harris to extend the Lumberjacks lead to 14-0.
Chris Campos then extended the Lumberjacks lead to 17-0 with a 36-yard field goal, giving the Lumberjacks a 17-0 lead with 3:33 to go in the first quarter. The Demons then mounted a drive of their own capped off with a 24-yard field goal to cut into the 'Jacks lead, 31-3. Jordan Nabors then ended a 75-yard touchdown drive with a 29-yard reception for a, 38-3 lead. Chris Campos added the PAT setting the record for most points after touchdown made with 182, breaking Jordan Wiggs mark of 181. Campos now holds the all-time records for most field goals made, total points, and PAT made.
The Lumberjacks then collected their third turnover of the night on the ensuing Demons drive as Charles Demmings intercepted Demon quarterback JT Fayard at the one-yard line. Jaheim Mullen then collected his second interception of the night and the fourth turnover for the Demons.
