LAKE CHARLES, La.- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (8-3-2, 5-2-0) get set for their second to last road game of the regular season as they travel to Louisiana for a Friday evening duel with the host McNeese State Cowgirls (3-12-1, 0-6-1).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks continue to be in a neck-and-neck race for first place in the Southland Conference. The Lumberjacks currently sit second in the Southland with 15 points just one point behind leader Texas A&M-Commerce who paces the Southland with 16 points. SFA will be looking to get back in the win column on Friday night as they will look to put their nail-biting 1-0 loss to Incarnate Word behind them and return to their winning ways with just three games left in the regular season. Despite the loss, SFA continues to boast one of the most imposing offenses in the Southland as they totaled 20 total shots and six shots on goal against the Cardinals but were unable to find the equalizing goal in an eventual 1-0 loss.
Cowgirls at a Glance:
The McNeese State Cowgirls will look to play spoiler and claim their first conference win of the season as they get set to open up a season-ending three-game homestand against SFA. In their last game, the Cowgirls closed out their road schedule for the regular season with a 2-0 loss to the Southland leading A&M-Commerce Golden Lions.
Series:
Friday night's conference battle will continue the storied history between these two storied Southland opponents as it will mark the 40th all-time meeting between the two schools. SFA leads the all-time series 28-7-4 and won the most recent meeting between the two teams in 2020 when they claimed a 2-1 home win over the Cowgirls.
