
Lumberjacks Ride Past Cowgirls off of a Trio of Goals

LAKE CHARLES, La.- The Stephen F. Austin soccer team (9-3-2, 6-2-0 SLC) headed to Louisiana to take on the McNeese Cowgirls (3-13-1, 0-7-1 SLC).
SFA got on the board in the fifth minute after Maddie Bowers passed the ball into the 18-yard box to Jayme Bailey who got the ball up and over the Cowgirl keeper and put the 'Jacks up 1-0. The Lumberjacks continued the offensive pressure and recorded 12 shots in the first half but were unable to score again before halftime.
In the 61st minute, Jayme Bailey placed a perfect cross to the head of Maddie Bowers who deflected the ball past the keeper for the 'Jacks second goal of the match, 2-0. SFA continue to pressure McNeese and were able to score again in the 82nd minute as Caelynn January netted her first goal of the season with a snipe from outside the 18-yard box, 3-0. The 'Jacks recorded their eighth shutout of the season and keeper Sierra McCluer recorded her fifth win of the season.
