HOUSTON, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Volleyball Team (10-5, 2-0) kicks off their second weekend of conference play as they travel to Houston for a Thursday evening duel with the Houston Christian Huskies (5-8, 2-0).
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
The Ladyjacks come into Houston on Thursday night looking to be in midseason form as they have rattled off five consecutive victories. The 'Jacks opened up conference play on a strong note as they hosted A&M-Corpus Christi and traveled to UTRGV to open up conference play. SFA had no trouble dismantling the Islanders at home in a 3-1 victory to extend their home winning streak to 33 games, before traveling to Edinburg and defeating former WAC rival UTRGV in a commanding 3-0 sweep. During this five-game winning streak for SFA, the Ladyjacks have complied three sweeps and have even more impressively not lost more than one set during the winning streak.
Huskies at a Glance:
The Houston Christian Huskies get set to host SFA on Thursday night in the middle of a three-game homestand that saw the Huskies kick-off the homestand with a 3-1 victory over A&M-Corpus Christi. The Huskies, like SFA, have started off conference play on the right foot as they are also 2-0 in conference play as they claimed a win over Nicholls in their conference opener before their latest win over the Islanders at home. The Huskies have been on the unfortunate side of some tightly contested games as their 5-8 record includes five losses in which the Huskies and their opponent went to five sets with the Huskies falling just short in all five matches. Houston Christian is led by Head Coach Trent Herman who is in his 13th season with the Huskies as he has compiled over 250 career wins as a head coach.

Thursday night's road match for SFA will mark the 19th all-time meeting between these two Southland Conference opponents. SFA leads the all-time series 12-6 as they have won six of the last seven meetings between the two teams. However, in their latest meeting the Huskies completed a 3-0 sweep of SFA in 2022.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Volleyball Team (10-5, 2-0) will close out their second week of conference play at the friendly confines of the Pressure Cooker as they will play host to the visiting A&M-Commerce Golden Lions (6-9, 3-0) in an early Saturday afternoon matchup.
Golden Lions at a Glance:
The A&M-Commerce Golden Lions make the trip to the Pineywoods carrying a 6-9 overall record as they have won their previous three matchups. The Golden Lions in similar fashion to SFA and HCU have had no problems to start conference play as they have won their first three conference matches, including coming off the heels of a 2-0 conference homestand in which they defeated UIW and McNeese. Saturday afternoon in Nacogdoches will be the second of four straight road games for the Golden Lions. The Golden Lions faced a gauntlet of opponents in non-conference play as they faced off with a list of schools that included TCU, UCLA, Houston, and Ole Miss. Commerce is led by Head Coach Joe Morales who is in his second season with the Golden Lions and has collected 15 career coaching win.

Saturday afternoon's matchup will feature the 29th all-time meeting between these two SLC opponents as Commerce holds the all-time series record with a 17-11 record. The Ladyjacks won the last meeting between these two schools as they claimed a clean 3-0 sweep over the Golden Lions at the Pressure Cooker in 2022.
Scouting Report:
Camryn Hill, Izabella Ortiz, and Katherine Holtman have formed a terrific trio offensively for SFA this season as all three have tallied over 120 kills on the year. Setters Jayden Flynn and Sophia Wilson have helped power the offensive success for SFA as Flynn has dished out a team-leading 300 assists while Wilson has pitched in 184 of her own this season. Hill and Natalie Guerrero have kept opposing offenses at bay as both have tallied over 140 digs, while Kyanna Creecy and Izabella Ortiz continue to stuff opponents at the net as they have combined for 100 blocks on the year.
Audrey Pearce and Ana Garza have powered the Huskies offense as they each have other 100 kills, while Emerald Jacobs was named the SLC Offensive Player of the Week as she posted 32 kills and 26 digs over two matches for HCU. Grace McLaughlin has been handing out assists at will this season as she easily leads the Huskies with an impressive 501 assists which is good for 37th most in the nation so far. Tatiana Evans and McLaughlin have led the Huskies defense as both have over 150 digs, while Audrey Pearce has recorded a team-high 67 blocks.
Reese Fetty and Kitana Tuufuli have been the leaders of the Golden Lions offense as both have over 140 kills and 150 points this season. Ellie Baumert has formed a solid compliment on offense for Commerce as she has tallied 386 assists so far. Jade Smith has been the enforcer on defense for the Golden Lions as she leads the team with 298 digs, while Carley Spachman has tallied a team-leading 52 blocks this season.
