
Cross-Country Heads to College Station for Arturo Barrios Invitational

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to College Station, Texas ,this weekend to compete in the Arturo Barrios Invitational. This will be both team's last meet before the Southland Conference (SLC) Championships set for Friday, November 1st.
In total, there will be 40 teams at the meet this weekend with over 800 entries. The schools in attendance include Abilene Christian, Arizona State, Arkansas State, Baylor, Boise State, Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Colorado (women), Delaware (women), Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Houston, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Louisiana, McNeese State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (women), SFA, Texas A&M, Texas A&M Texarkana, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, Texas State, UT-Arlington, UTSA and Youngstown State.
There will be seven Southland Conference schools competing in the event giving the the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks an opportunity to compete before the SLC Championships. The men's team is currently ranked 9th in the region. There are 13 out of the top 15 schools in the region participating in the meet.
"For our men, this will be a great time to see how we truly matchup against the best teams in the south-central region, especially in the Southland," said head coach Rob Hansen. "We know the importance of creating momentum at the Barrios meet, but we also know this is a tune-up for the postseason."
Head Coach Rob Hansen also made some comments about the women's team going into the meet saying, "we're defiantly beat up right now. We've had our share of broken ankles and sinus infections, but the ladies we're bringing are energetic and willing to overcome adversity. I am very excited to watch them compete."
