Elliott Named SLC Men’s XC Student-Athlete of the Year, Nine Jacks Receive Academic Honors

Five men, four women named to SLC All-Academic Team
FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior cross country runner Riley Elliott was named the Southland Conference Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year in an announcement by the league on Thursday, January 8. In addition to Elliott's superlative honor, eight other Lumberjack runners, five men and four women, joined the Vernon, Texas, native on the league's All-Academic teams.
Elliott's 2025 campaign concluded with a top 25 finish at the NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville. That effort proved to be the Texan's fastest 10K time of his career at 30:38.9. Two weeks prior, Elliott helped the SFA Men win the Southland Conference title with a third-place finish behind a personal best 8K time of 23:01.2. An SLC First Team honoree, Elliott also set personal best times in the 6K (18:37.4) and the 3M (15:08.5), while logging five top 20 finishes. A Business Administration major, Elliott holds a 3.89 GPA.
Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must hold at least a 3.5 GPA and have completed in one semester of athletic competition at the nominating institution. Members of the All-Academic team are nominated by their institution based on athletic performance and musut hold at least a 3.25 GPA and have completed in one semester of athletic competition at the nominating institution.
