Riley Elliott was the next highest finisher for the Lumberjacks in 41st with a time of 23:38. Riley also finished under the previous 8k record held by Elkana and is now the second fastest man in school history.
The men finished 10th out of 38 teams in the meet Including some of the biggest programs in America.
"The men finished 25th here last year and in the 30s the year before that," said Head Coach Rob Hansen when asked about the group's performance. "This meet demonstrates the direction we are headed with the men. We executed a complete race plan again today and the guys believe that we can continue to grow in postseason."
Valentine Jemutai was the highest finisher for the Ladyjacks with a time of 20:36 coming in 61st overall. Valentine was only 12 seconds off of the school record. The women finished 37th as a team and will look to rebound at the Southland Conference Championships next week.
"The women are very young, and this was the longest and most competitive atmosphere they've ever been exposed to," said Head Coach Rob Hansen. "I would never say we are pleased with the overall team result, but I know that we are moving in the right direction. If we stay the course, we're going to get to where we expect to be some versus later. I remain proud of our ladies."
Both teams will be back in action in two weeks as they travel to New Orleans, Louisiana to compete in the Southland Conference Championships on November 1st.
