Elliott, SFA Men's & Women's XC Teams Honored by USTFCCCA for Academic Achievement

Eilliott named All-Academic Athlete by association; both squads recognized for 3.3+ team GPAs
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Outgoing Stephen F. Austin cross country runner Riley Elliott as well as both the SFA men's and women's cross country teams were honored by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academic achievement. Elliott was honored as an All-Academic Athlete by the association after sporting a 4.0 GPA while pursuing an MBA and each squad produced a team GPA north of 3.3 to earn All-Academic Team distinction.
Elliott posted a career-best 8K time (23:01.2) in his final Southland Conference title meet to finish third overall and earn All-SLC honors. He followed that performance with a personal-best 10K effort of 30:38.9 at the NCAA Division I SOuth Central Region Cross Country Championships where he logged a top 25 finish in 23rd overall.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
