
Offensive Explosion Powers Lumberjacks over Islanders

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin soccer team (8-2-2, 5-1-0 SLC) continued their three-game home stand as they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-3-5, 2-1-2 SLC).
Coming off an impressive 2-0 win against Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night, the 'Jacks looked to get the weekend sweep with a win over the Islanders. TAMUCC and SFA both started off physical with both teams applying offensive pressure. The 'Jacks struck first in the 19th minute as Hadley Williams place a free kick in a perfect position for Ella Morgan to receive it then turn around to get a shot on goal that bounced off the Islanders keeper right to the head of Alex Bayouth who got the rebound in for the first goal of the game, 1-0.
It did not take long for SFA to score again in the 22nd minute as Kamryn Jiles pushed the ball into the box and then passed it to Ava Shannon who was able to drive it in further and then pass it back to Jiles who knocked it in off the goal post to extend the 'Jacks lead 2-0. The SFA scoring did not stop their as Williams got her second goal of the year off a free kick that went over the TAMUCC keeper's head and into the back of the net for the third goal of the match, 3-0. SFA continued to push in the first half as Brielle Buchanan got in on the scoring with a goal in the 35th minute as Avery Brandt kept the ball in the attacking third and then passed it Buchanan who juked a couple of defenders and was able to get the ball past the TAMUCC keeper for her fifth goal of the season, 4-0.
In the second half the 'Jacks offense did not wait long to get back on the board as Bayouth recorded her second goal of the game off of a cross from Maddie Bowers, 5-0. Bayouth was not the only Lumberjack to record a brace as Buchanan recorded her second goal of the match off of a pass from Erin Morgan and was able to send a rocket past the outstretched arms of the Islanders keeper, 6-0. SFA continued to pour it on as Erin Morgan passed the ball to Jayme Bailey who put on the jets and ran past all the Islander defenders into the box and placed a beautiful shot past the arms of the keeper for the seventh and final goal of the match. The SFA defense held their ground the entire match as they recorded their seventh shutout of the season.
