NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (6-2-2, 3-1-0) open up a three-game homestand on Friday night when they get set to host the visiting Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions (5-5-1, 4-1-0) in a battle of top teams in the Southland Conference standings.

Lumberjacks at a Glance:

The Lumberjacks continue to be undaunted in both conference play and playing away from home as they closed out a three-game road trip last Sunday with a commanding 4-1 win over the UTRGV Vaqueros to record both their third conference and road win of the season. The Lumberjacks, currently riding a two-game winning streak, return home to the friendly confines of the Chopping Block where SFA has been a tough draw for opponents this season as they are a perfect 3-0 at the Chopping Block this year. The Lumberjacks will look to continue their relentless offensive pressure as they have totaled over 10 shots in every game this season, which paired with a suffocating defense and dynamic goaltending duo of Lydia Sattler and Sierra McCluer that has allowed just seven goals all season, has resulted in SFA winning by multiple goals in all six of their wins this season.

Lady Lions at a Glance:

The Lumberjacks will have their work cut out for them on Friday night as they open up their three-game homestand with the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions who currently pace the Southland Conference with their 4-1 conference record and 12 conference points on the season. The Lady Lions begin their three-game road trip in the Pineywoods on Friday as they will carry a two-game winning streak that saw them defeat reigning Southland Conference champion Lamar, before following up with a win over Northwestern State in consecutive home games to lay claim to sole possession of first place in the Southland.

Series:

Friday night's conference battle will feature the 43rd all-time meeting between these two storied Southland Conference foes. SFA leads the all-time series 20-13-9 including holding a 13-2-3 home record against the Lady Lions. In their last meeting in 2021, the Lady Lions claimed a 2-0 win over the Lumberjacks.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (6-2-2, 3-1-0) will continue their homestand on Sunday afternoon against the visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (5-2-4, 2-0-1) in a Sunday matinee matchup.

Islanders at a Glance:

The visiting Islanders will round out their three-game road trip on Sunday in Nacogdoches that has seen the Islanders claim a 2-1 win over Texas A&M-Commerce to open up the road trip. The Islanders similar to Southeastern Louisiana and SFA will carry a two-game winning streak into their next match on Friday when they get set to battle the Lamar Cardinals. The Islanders have been a tough draw for opponents this year as they have tallied a Southland Conference high four ties so far this season, with all four ties coming at home and one tie coming in conference play against Houston Christian.

Series:

Sunday afternoon's battle will feature the 10th all-time meeting between the Islanders and Lumberjacks as SFA holds the all-time record 5-2-2 over Corpus. The Lumberjacks hold a 3-1 home record against the Islanders, and the last meeting between these two schools in 2021 saw these two teams end in a 1-1 tie.

Scouting Report:

Maddie Bowers continues her scorching hot scoring streak as she recorded her second straight game with a goal against UTRGV and her sixth game in her last seven matches with at least a point as she has tied Reaganne Crane for the team lead in points with 15 while leading the team in assists with five while Crane paces the squad with six goals. Jayme Bailey continues to form a constant scoring threat as well as she has scored a goal in two of her last three games, while Kamryn Jiles keeps opposing goaltenders on their toes as she leads the team with 14 shots on goal.

Hannah McCord leads the Lady Lions offense with her four goals and nine points this season while Kelsey Fuller has formed a nice compliment to McCord on offense as she has netted three goals of her own. The Lady Lions have spread the wealth on offense this year as eight different players have recorded an assist. Kendall Curran and Anna Blankenship have teamed up to record 47 saves in net for Southeastern Louisiana this year.

The Islanders offense has been spread out this year as seven different players have tallied multiple goals for Corpus. Morgan Westbury and Maddy Howells lead the team with three goals each, while Westbury leads the squad with nine points and 25 shots on the year. Rachel Loetzer has dished out a team-high three assists, while Zoe Theriot has recorded three shutouts and 54 saves in net for the Islanders.
