NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Southern Methodist University defeated Stephen F. Austin, 3-1 Thursday night.
SMU opened up the scoring in the 9th minute. The Mustangs added another goal in the 32nd minute and went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. SMU then added another goal in the 72nd minute to take a commanding 3-0 lead. SFA got on the board in the 80th minute as Morgan Donohue scored her first goal of the season. Avery Brandt had the assist on the Donohue goal after a great pass left room for Donohue to sneak the ball in just out of the SMU goalie's reach.
Donohue recorded a goal and Brandt recorded an assist. Goalkeeper Lydia Sattler also recorded five saves in the match.
SFA will return to the chopping block Sunday, September 3rd at 11:00 am to face the University of Alabama Birmingham.
