SFA Falls 1-0 in Finale of Four-Game Homestand

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- University of Alabama at Birmingham defeated Stephen F. Austin 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Ladyjacks and Blazers both came into today looking to get a win in the win column as the Blazers were coming off a tie against TCU, while SFA came in off a 3-1 loss to SMU. The Blazers scored the lone goal of the game in the sixth minute as Carlyn Presley scored her third goal of the season for the Blazers to increase her team lead in goals (three) and points (six). Avery Berryman picked up her first assist of the season on the Presley goal.
Overall, the Blazers outshot SFA 4-1 in the first half, but Lydia Sattler held her own as she stopped the next three shots she faced from UAB in the first half. The Ladyjacks outshot the Blazers 3-2 in the second half but were unable to find the equalizer and fell 1-0 at home. Sattler added five more saves to her season total, while Gabrielle Gipson played the entire game for SFA. Lily Hargrove led SFA in shots on goal with two. Eve Beyer, the goalkeeper for the Blazers, stopped all four shots she faced from the 'Jacks.
Stephen F. Austin will travel to Austin to face off against the No. 18 ranked Texas Longhorns on Thursday September 7th at 7:00 p.m. aiming to snap a four-game skid.
