SFA Cross Country set to host the 2023 Lumberjack Invitational
8/30/2023 12:54:00 PM | Cross Country, Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - SFA Cross Country kicks off the 2023 season in Nacogdoches this Saturday at 7:30 AM.
SFA will welcome in Sam Houston, Texas A&M Kingsville, and UT Tyler for both the men's and women's races at Pecan Acers Park.
Coach Rob Hansen is fired up to get the season underway. When it comes to the men, Hansen has strong returners and new batch of freshmnn that bring in strong fresh legs.
"We return Wyatt Hoover and Zach Dennison as some of our strongest returners. We have a nice array of freshmen who did great work in the summer, and we'll be dependent on them for short term and long term success, especially since we're strategically redshirting some impact runners."
The Mens team heads into the year ranked #12 in the USTFCCA South Central Region.
On the women's side, Hansen has brought in talent that will make an immediate impact.
"Maggie Marshall had a nice summer of training, coupled with veteran teammate Rachel Taylor to lead our returners. We'll have a nice front 3, when adding in Grad newcomer Tereza Lukasova to the mix. She will immediately push the group from the front of the pack."
The men's race will start at 7:30 a.m. while the women will start at 8:15 a.m.
