
SFA Host WAC Track and Field for Outdoor Championships

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin will host the WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 11th-13th at Homer Bryce Stadium. The championship meet begins Thursday, May 11th at 9:30 A.M., followed by a 9:30 A.M. start time Friday, May 12 and concludes Sunday, March 13th with a 10:00 A.M. start time.
'Jacks to follow this weekend include:
- Devin Miles is ranked 2nd in the WAC for the 400m, with a time of 46.75.
- Riley Elliott ran a 3:45.13 in the 1500m, winning first at the Fresno State Invitational, and setting a new school record.
- Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon, Mathilde Guillaume, and Morgan Jeffares are ranked 4th 5th and 6th in the WAC right now for the 110m hurdles.
- Nissi Kabongo continues her dominant season and is ranked 1st I wac and top 25 in NCAA for the 400m.
- Clark Otte will run the 3000m and is currentlyt ranked 4th in the WAC. Otte's steeplechase time of 8:53.53 is ranked 41st in the West region.
- The women's high jump will be represented by an impressive group. Nissi Kabongo and Angel Richmore are tied for 1st in the WAC. Both Kabongo and Richmore also share a spot among the NCAA's top 20. Ayi-Lissa Dotson and Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon are ranked 5th and 7th in the WAC.
- Branson Ellis has had one of the NCAA's most dominant pole vault seasons this year. Ellis' 5.86m vault is 1st in the WAC and 2nd in the NCAA.
- Michelle Ogbemudia is ranked 1st in NCAA and 30th in West, with her 15.82m shot put throw. Jayla Hooper is ranked 3rd in the WAC, with her 15.39m throw.
- Jayla Hooper is 2nd in discus, with a throw of 50.09m.
- Kayson Elijah leads the WAC in the men's hammer, with a throw of 58.12m.
- Izac Canchola is 2nd in the WAC and 13th in the West in the men's javelin.
- Montana Piper's javelin throw of 46.06 is ranked 3rd in the WAC.
- Angel Richmore's 5691 in the heptathlon is ranked 1st in the WAC and 10th in the NCAA. Chandee Bachmeyer will join her in the event and is ranked 5th in the WAC.
- Stephen F. Austin is the defending women's champion and captured the Women's Indoor Track & Field title this past February.
- Stephen F. Austin women rank number 12 in the South-Central Region.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The 2023 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be broadcast live on ESPN+ starting at 4:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12. Coverage begins at 3:30 P.M.
