
Track and Field Split for Tyson and Howie Ryan Invitationals

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas- Stephen F. Austin will have a group of 20 athletes traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas. This group will be taking part in the Tyson Invitational, on Friday and Saturday. The meet will begin on February 9th and wrap up February 10th.
The women will be led by reigning WAC Field Athlete of The Week Erica Ellis. Ellis will look to improve upon her season's best 4.24m (13'11") from last weekend in New Mexico. She currently sits number one in the WAC by over a foot and is ranked tied for 15th in the NCAA. Ellis currently sits on the bubble of qualifying for the NCAA Championships in early March and will look to clinch her spot this weekend.
Jayla Hooper and Michelle Ogbemudia will both be throwing the weight and the shot. Jayla currently sits 2nd in the WAC in the weight and is ranked 1st in the shot. Michelle is 5th and 4th respectively.
The Men will be led by four-time WAC Field Athlete of The Week Branson Ellis. He will look to keep that streak alive, as he'll compete against some of the nation's best in Arkansas. Ellis is currently 1st in the WAC by over 2 feet and ranked 6th in the NCAA.
Men's distance will also be on full display. Two-time school record holder Clark Otte will lead the charge. Otte will be running the 3000m run, an event where he's ranked 5th in the WAC. He runs the 3000m on Friday. And he'll double back on Saturday to run the mile with teammate Lewis Mills.
HOUSTON, Texas- The Lumberjacks will be traveling with 45 athletes to Houston, Texas. They will be taking part in the Howie Ryan Invitational. The Invitational will kick off on Friday, February 10th.
Nissi Kabongo will lead the way for the women, as the 20th ranked High Jumper in the NCAA. She'll also be running in the 400m, an event where she's ranked 2nd in the WAC, as well as her season's debut at 200m. Kabongo will be joined in the high jump by highly ranked veteran high jumpers Ayi-Lissa Dotson and Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon.
Multiple time all-WAC athlete Rachel Taylor will make her season's debut in the 1-mile run and double back, to race in the 800m. Angel Richmore is entered in a variety of events, including shot put, 60m hurdles, long jump, and the 4x400.
The men's squad will bring a host of top performing athletes to Houston. Among the men are rising freshmen sprinters Malcolm Washington and Luke Harden. They'll be running 400m, 200m and the 4x400m relay. The men's 800m trio at Houston will be led by Freshman transfer Jackson Parrish. The underclassmen duo of Kayson Elijah and Sultan Bakare will lead the field events. Both Elijah and Bakare will compete in the weight throw and shot put.
This will be final chance the Lumberjacks get to compete, before the WAC Indoor Championships. The indoor championships will take place on February 24th and 25th, in Spokane, Washington.
