
Tanishua Joseph Records Career-High 13 Kills as Ladyjacks Sweep Lopes for Sole Possession of First Place

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Grand Canyon, 3-0 Saturday afternoon. That sweep was SFA's 10th sweep of the season and gives the Ladyjacks sole possession of first place in the WAC.
The first set was tightly contested as neither team had more than a three-point lead until the 'Jacks went on a five-point run to extend their lead to 24-18 and eventually won the first set 25-19. In the second set, the trend continued as teams traded points back-and-forth throughout the entire set. Each team had multiple three-point runs and were able to hold serve, but SFA would come out on top in extras, 29-27. The Ladyjack offense jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third set and were able to hold their lead for the rest of the match. SFA won the third set by a score of 25-19 and notched their 24th consecutive win in the Pressure Cooker.
SFA led GCU in points (56-49), kills (41-38), blocks (12-6) and tied the Lopes in assists (38-38), and digs (48-48). Freshman Tanishua Joseph set a career-high with 13 kills and led the team with a .462 hitting percentage. Ielan Bradley followed up with 10 kills and hit .333. Maddy Bourque and Jayden Flynn each recorded 15 assists. Flynn also recorded three aces for the third time this season. Alleah Dallas led the 'Jacks defense with six blocks followed by Izabella Ortiz and Joseph who each recorded five. Bourque also led the team with nine digs, followed by Haley Hoang and Flynn who each recorded eight.
The Ladyjacks will be back in the Pressure Cooker Thursday, October 12th at 6:00 p.m. as the Tarleton Texans head to Nacogdoches.
