
Ladyjacks Extend Home Win Streak to 25 and Remain Undefeated in WAC Play

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Tarleton State, 3-0 Thursday evening. That is the 25th consecutive win at Shelton Gym and the seventh conference win of the season.
SFA jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first set and then extended their lead to 10-5 later in the set off a four-point run with two kills by Izabella Ortiz, one by Ariana Pagan, and one by Tanishua Joseph. The Ladyjacks continued to hold their lead for the rest of the set as they won the first set by a score of 25-18. The second set was tightly contested as each team had three-point mini runs and neither team had more than a two point lead. Tarleton had a four-point spurt which gave them a 16-14 lead, but SFA shot back with a four-point run of their own to take the lead back, 18-16. The Ladyjacks won four of the last five points as they secured a 25-23 second set victory. The 'Jacks jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the third set and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-18 third set victory to secure their seventh straight conference win and remain undefeated in WAC play.
SFA led Tarleton in points (58-41), kills (48-38), aces (4-1), blocks (6-2), assists (44-36), digs (59-48), and hitting percentage (.333-.212). Joseph led the team for the second consecutive game with 12 kills, followed by Bradley who notched 11 kills. Jayden Flynn led the 'Jacks with 20 assists, followed by Maddy Bourque who recorded 19. Bradley and Ortiz led the defense with three blocks each. Ortiz's second block of the match was her 100th block of the season. Four Ladyjacks recorded double-digit digs; Camryn Hill led the way with 13, Pagan had 12, Haley Hoang and Bourque each recorded 10.
The Ladyjacks will finish up their four-game homestand Saturday, October 14th against Abilene Christian at 12:00 p.m. central time.
