Ladyjacks Look to Maintain Momentum Against Tarleton

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Volleyball team squares off in a mid-week conference match against Tarleton State.
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
Stephen F. Austin will be looking to build off a convincing conference win against GCU which saw the Ladyjacks sweep GCU and claim sole possession of first place in the WAC. In the game against GCU, SFA led GCU in points (56-49), kills (41-38), hitting percentage (.232-.103), and blocks (12-6).
Freshman Tanishua Joseph stepped up in a big way against GCU to help power the 'Jacks to a sweep over the Lopes. Joseph posted a career-high 13 kills against GCU, led the team in hitting percentage with .462, and also added five blocks to lead all Ladyjack players with 15.5 points. Ielan Bradley continues to be an imposing force in the SFA lineup as she added another ten kills and a block against GCU. Maddy Bourque and Jayden Flynn continue to form a dynamic duo for SFA as they both contributed on both sides for SFA. Bourque and Flynn tied for the team lead in assists while Bourque led the team with nine digs and Flynn led the team with three aces and finished tied for second on the team in digs with eight with Haley Hoang. The defense for the Ladyjacks continues to dominate teams as Alleah Dallas led the team with six blocks, while Izabella Ortiz and Tanishua Joseph each recorded five. Ortiz currently sits at fifth in the nation in total individual blocks with 98, helping SFA maintain their top spot at Team Total Blocks.
The Ladyjacks have now won 24 consecutive home games and continue to hold their spot at second in the nation in that category. SFA continues to pace the nation in Team Total Blocks by surpassing the 200-block mark as they currently have 201 on the season. SFA enters this match with a 17-3 overall record, a 6-0 conference record, and a 10-0 home record. SFA has swept five of their first six conference games played and will look to keep their undefeated home and conference record intact. The Ladyjacks currently rank 43rd in the RPI Ranking which saw SFA jump 19 spots from the previous week ranking of 62nd. Currently, SFA is ranked above a list of schools that include Clemson, Houston, Indiana, and Ohio State.

The Tarleton Texans come into this game against SFA looking to snap a four-game losing streak and claim their first road conference win. The Texans travel to Nacogdoches with a 11-9 overall record, a 2-4 conference record, and a 3-2 away record. In their most recent game against Southern Utah, the Thunderbirds defeated the Texans 3-1. The Texans have gotten production from their entire team so far this season. Offensively, Allison Bryant leads the team with 277 kills while Megan Hodges has amassed 470 assists this season and Emma Burke has totaled 32 aces. Defensively, Matti Theurerc paces the Texans with 316 digs and Emma Burke has posted 81 blocks so far this season.
