NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer is set to host the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in their regular season home finale.
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
Stephen F. Austin concludes their regular season home schedule with a matchup against Southern Utah. This game will be featured as senior day for the Lumberjacks and there will be four players being honored for senior day. Briana Beaty, Jamie Jezierski, Mariona Garcia Dalmases, and Kyra Guhl will all be honored for their final home game in an SFA jersey. In their most recent match against Utah Tech, the Lumberjacks fell at home 3-0 to the Trailblazers. Despite the loss, SFA played their second-best offensive game this season as they tallied 17 total shots and a whopping 10 shots on goal. In the match against Utah Tech, Lydia Sattler made her third consecutive start in net and recorded five saves. Nine different players recorded a shot for SFA against the Trailblazers while Ava Shannon, Jayme Bailey and Mariona Garcia each recorded two shots on goal apiece. Briana Beaty, Tiana Thompson, Jamie Ingrassia, and Morgan Donohue all also recorded a shot on goal for SFA, but none were able to find the back of the net. The Lumberjacks will look to carry some of that confidence on offense from Thursday over to Sunday as they look to finish their home schedule with a win. SFA currently holds a 1-12-1 overall record, a 0-4-1 conference record, and a 0-7-1 home record.

The Thunderbirds are coming off their first win of the season as they defeated UTRGV 2-1 on the road. Whitney Gardner leads the Thunderbirds offensively as she leads the team in goals (four), assists (four) and points (12). Sammie Sofonia has provided Whitney Garder with a dynamic partner offensively as Sofonia has tallied three goals and three assists this year. Julia Ortega has started all 13 games in net for Southern Utah and has amassed 72 saves so far this season.
Series: This will be the second meeting between these schools as Southern Utah has won the lone matchup between the two schools. Their first, and only, matchup was in September of 2022 when the Thunderbirds defeated the Lumberjacks 1-0 in Cedar City, Utah.
