Ariana Pagan and Jayden Flynn Record Double-Doubles as Ladyjacks Slash Lancers to Stay Undefeated in Conference Play

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated California Baptist 3-1 Thursday night and moved to 5-0 in conference play. SFA also extended their home win streak to 23 games, which is second best in the nation.
The first set was very close until CBU went on a four-point run to take a 14-10 lead. SFA fought back later in the set with a four-point run of their own, but in the end CBU won the first set, 25-23. The first 12 points of the second set were evenly split, but SFA took command of the set after a 5-0 lead to take an 11-6 lead. Later on, the 'Jacks went on a six-point spurt to extend their lead to 22-10 and went on to win the second set 25-11. CBU had the upper hand for a majority of the third set. However, the Ladyjacks caught fire at the end of the set winning eight of the last nine points as they won the third set 25-22. CBU went on a four-point run early in the fourth set, and then SFA went on a six-point spurt to take a slim 7-5 lead. The 'Jacks were able to hold serve and had a four-point run later in the set to extend their lead to 20-12. The final ten points of the match were traded between the teams, but the Ladyjacks came our victorious with a 25-17 fourth set win.
SFA led CBU in points (75-53), kills (59-44), aces (8-5), blocks (8-4), assists (56-43), digs (70-54), and hitting percentage (.309-200). Ariana Pagan recorded her third double-double of the season leading the team with 16 kills and finishing second with 15 digs. Ielan Bradley followed Pagan with 14 kills. Jayden Flynn finished with 30 assists, followed by Maddy Bourque who recorded 17. Flynn completed her double-double by adding 11 digs. Haley Hoang led the team with 19 digs and three service aces. Alleah Dallas led the team with five blocks, followed by Tanishua Joseph and Izabella Ortiz who recorded three.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action in Shelton Gym on Saturday, October 7th at 12:00 p.m. for a matchup with the Lopes of Grand Canyon.
