
Volleyball to Host Conference Opener Against Tarleton State

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program begins conference play against Tarleton State.
In the first game against the Lions, the Ladyjacks won the first set (25-14), the second set (25-20), and the third set (25-10). Senior, Ariana Pagan recorded another double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Haley Hoang led the team with 21 digs, followed by Pagan. Jayden Flynn led the team with 20 assists and Maddy Bourque had 13 assists. Izabella Ortiz recorded four block assists and one solo which ties her season high.
In the second game against the Eagles, the Ladyjacks won the first set (25-13), the second set (25-10), and the third set (25-20). Payton Cerny recorded a season-high 15 kills, followed by Pagan who had 11, and was two digs off of another double-double, and is now three digs away from getting her 1,000th career digs. Hoang led the team with 18 digs and finished second with 11 assists, while Flynn led the Ladyjacks with 16 assists. SFA has 43 kills, 38 assists, seven aces, eight block assists, 47 digs, and had a .398 hitting percentage.
In the final game against Arkansas State, SFA won the first set (25-17), the second set (25-18), and the third set (25-21). Each team recorded six blocks in this match. Early in the first set, Pagan recorded her 1,000th career dig as she went on to record her second double-double of the weekend with 11 kills and 10 digs. Leah Powell and Ielan Bradley finished second on the team with eight kills. Flynn once again led the team in assists with 18, while Bourque recorded 15. Kelsey Harrington, Ortiz, and Bradley each recorded three block assists in the match. Hoang once again led SFA with 16 digs, followed by Pagan and Powell who had 10.
Hoang was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Pagan was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is the third time Hoang has won this award this season and the first time Pagan has won. Pagan was also named to the SFA All-Tournament Team along with Bradley and Cerny.
