Volleyball Defeats Tarleton to Open Conference Play

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Tarleton State, 3-1 as they began their conference schedule.
SFA won the first set (25-16), then dropped the second set (20-25), but then won the next two sets (25-20 & 25-21). The Ladyjacks led the Texans in points (74-62), kills (62-49, aces (9-3), assists (57-45), digs (56-54), and hitting percentage (.298-.273). Ielan Bradley led the offensive attack for SFA with a career and season high of 19 kills, followed by reigning WAC Offensive Player of the Week, Ariana Pagan with 14 kills. Maddy Bourque led the team with 29 assists, while Jayden Flynn recorded 20 assists. Flynn also had a career and season high of six aces in this match, while Pagan recorded three. Regining WAC Defensive Player of the Week, Haley Hoang once again led the team with 18 digs, followed by Leah Powell who was one kill away from a double-double as she finished with nine kills and 12 digs.
The Ladyjacks go on the road Saturday, September 24th as they head to Huntsville to face off against rival Sam Houston at 1 p.m.
