
SFA cruises past Seattle U, 7-0; Advances to WAC Tourney Semi-Final

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – No. 2 seed Stephen F. Austin cruised past No. 3 seed Seattle U 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2022 WAC Softball Tournament.
The Ladyjacks advance to the semifinals Friday versus No. 1 seed Grand Canyon at 1 p.m.
Senior and WAC Pitcher of the Year Kassidy Wilbur (20-12) kept the RedHawks off-balance throughout. The Bridge City, Texas native tossed a complete-game shutout, scattered four hits and struck out eight batters.
The Ladyjacks opened up an early 2-0 lead, but put the game out of reach in the fourth inning. Senior Mackenzie Bennett delivered a grand slam and SFA extended the lead to 6-0. Gaby Garcia added an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Garcia finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Bennett batted 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Lexi Benson, Camryn Middlebrook, Simone Medeiros, Hope Lusk and Emily Berryhill each collected a hit.
