NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Freshman Emily Berryhill delivered a pair of RBI and Stephen F. Austin eased past Prairie View A&M 3-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday.
Berryhill struck first in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI triple to score Mackenzie Bennett. Berryhill added her second RBI with a double to center field to score Hope Lusk. Moments later, Mikaelah Burkland stole second base and Berryhill raced to touch home plate and SFA led 3-0.
Berryhill finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored one run. Lusk also batted 2-for-3, while Gaby Garcia and Camryn Middlebrook each added a hit.
Sophie Hannabas earned the win in the circle. Hannabas tossed 4 2/3 innings and scattered three hits, allowed no runs and walked three batters and struck out four batters. Brooke Gainous and Alexis Telford tossed the remaining 2 1/3 frames and did not allow a hit.
The Ladyjacks return to action this weekend with a three-game series versus rival Sam Houston. Game one is set for Friday at 1 p.m. at the SFA Softball Field.
