
Ladyjacks Hit 3 Home Runs in Series-Opening Win Over Lamar

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin opened its three-game home-stand versus Lamar and split the opening day.
SFA won game one 6-3 and dropped a close game two 4-3.
Lamar started fast in opener and led 3-1 after two innings of play.
In SFA's part of the third inning, Emily Berryhill's RBI single down the left-field line cut the deficit to within one at 3-2.
The Ladyjacks used the deep ball in the fourth inning. Gaby Garcia and Lexi Benson each hit a solo home run and SFA led 4-3.
SFA added insurance runs in sixth inning. Benson delivered a sacrifice fly and Sydney Carithers hit the Ladyjacks third solo home run of the game.
Garcia finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Hope Lusk batted 2-for-4 and scored a run.
As a team, the Ladyjacks added 10 hits and drew five walks.
Kassidy Wilbur tossed a complete game. Wilbur scattered five hits, allowed three runs and three walks and struck out 12 batters.
In game two, LU scored in the top of the seventh to break the tie.
Carithers batted 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Garcia finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The two teams close out the series Saturday at the Ladyjacks Softball Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
