NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The defending Western Athletic Conference Regular Season Champion Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team begins the 2022-23 season Monday at home versus LeTourneau.

The two programs have matched up eight times with the 'Jacks carrying an 8-0 series advantage. The last meeting, which was played December 1, 2020, SFA rolled to a 102-57 win. Under SFA head coach Kyle Keller the 'Jacks have played the Yellow Jackets three times (2020-21, 2019-20, 2017-18) and have won by an average of 94-65.
Raising the Banner
Prior to the game, the 'Jacks will raise the WAC Regular Season Championship banner into the rafters at Williams R. Johnson Coliseum. It's the programs first championship as a member of the WAC, and 11 overall.
'Jacks Preseason No. 3 in Coaches and Media Polls
The Lumberjacks were voted to finish third in the both the WAC Pre-Season Coaches' Poll and the WAC Preseason Media Poll.
In the coaches' poll, SFA finished with 111 votes and are 16 points behind second-place New Mexico State, and 10 points ahead of fourth-ranked Abilene Christian. In the media poll, the 'Jacks are slated between NM State, and ACU.

Duo Named to All-WAC Preseason Team
Sophomores Sadaidriene Hall and Jaylin Jackson-Posey were selected to the All-WAC Preseason Second Team, as voted by the coaches. Jackson-Posey was additionally named to the All-WAC Preseason Media Team.
Jackson-Posey had a standout 2021-22 freshman campaign.
The Midland, Texas native appeared in 31 games on the season, starting in seven of those matchups and averaged 22.1 minutes, 7.5 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Jackson-Posey recorded 67 assists, 41 steals, and 25 blocks throughout the year, being ranked in the top three on the team in each of those categories. Additionally, he scored double digits in eight games.
Hall played a significant role for the 'Jacks last season.
Hall in all 32 games on the season, starting in three of those matches and averaged 19.7 minutes, 9.4 points, and 5.3 rebounds per game. A key player on the court, he had the second -best field goal percentage (.578) on the team with a minimum of 100 attempts, third most points scored in the season (300), third most rebounds (170), third most steals (39), and second most blocks (27). The Sulphur Springs, Texas native Scored double digits in 14 games including a 28-point double-double performance against Wiley, and15 points on the board in the senior night matchup against Abilene Christian, which included a game winning jump shot as the clock hit zero.

Jalil Bearbrun | 6-9 | 250 pounds | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Bearburn joins the program after two seasons at Southwest Baptist. Bearburn averaged 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks per game. The Florida native shot 50 percent from the field and converted 45 percent of three-point attempts.
AJ Cajuste | 6-1 | G | Boco Raton, Fla.
Cajuste, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound point guard from Boco Raton, Florida
Cajuste was honored as the Men's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I All-American First Team. Cajuste led Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team to one of their finest seasons in school history. The team compiled a 28-5 overall record, a third straight Southern Conference Title, and back-to-back trips the NJCAA National Tournament. Scoring was one area Cajuste made big improvements as he averaged 19.5 points per game which ranked him second in the state of Florida. He scored over 30 points in four contests with a career high 36 points on January 29th against Florida Southwestern State College. Cajuste also led the state in assists dishing out 7.1 per game. In his three years as a Pioneer, he scored 1,039 points and handed out 455 assists while helping his team to an overall 70-17 record.
Kyle Hayman | 6-5 | G | Hinds Community College
Hayman is a 6-foot-5 guard out of Hinds Community College.
Hayman was a veteran presence for Hinds this past season. The Monroe, Louisiana native played in 25 games, averaged 15.8 points per game and shot 45.1 percent from the field. Hayman scored a season-high 27 points on 11-for-21 shooting from the field at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Hayman was also named to the All-MACCC Second-Team.
Robbie Armbrester | 6-4 | G | Houston
Armbrester is a 6-4 guard out of the University of Houston.
Out of high school he was a 3-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals, he considered Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Clemson, Mississippi and Georgia.
Armbrester competed for three years at Therrell High School in Atlanta before transferring to play at Wasatch Academy for Head Coach Paul Peterson in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, as a senior for the 2020-21 season.
As a junior at Therrell High in 2019-20, he missed much of the season with a wrist injury as the Panthers advanced to the state championship game.
Armbrester was named to the Class AA All-State First Team and was the only sophomore to earn that distinction in 2018-19. A member of the All-Metro Team, he also scored 10 points in the Class AA state championship game to help lead the Panthers to the title.
A look at LeTourneau
Last season the Yellowjacks went 22-5 and 15-4 in American Southwest Conference action and were runner-up in the ASC Championship game, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Nacogdoches natives Christian Adams and junior Deonte Jackson return home to play in front of family and friends. Last season, Jackson averaged 19.1 points per game, while Adams averaged 6.9 points per game.
