
SFA rolls past LeTourneau in Season Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Four Stephen F. Austin student-athletes scored in double digits and the Lumberjacks cruised past LeTourneau 93-40 in the season opener Monday evening from William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The 'Jacks dominated the first half and shot 54.1 percent (20-for-37) from the field and went into intermission with a 53-13 lead. The SFA defense also put the clamps on LETU, and the YellowJackets only converted 16 percent (4-for-25) from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
For the game, SFA shot 52.9 percent (37-for-70) from the floor, while LETU converted 23.1 percent (12-for-52) of its attempts.
SFA forced LETU into 32 turnovers, which was turned into 38 points. The 'Jacks dominated in the paint and outscored the overmatched YellowJackets 56-4. The 'Jacks also out-rebounded the YellowJackets 54-19.
The Purple and White scored 24 points in the fast break and added 20 second-chance points.
Sadaidriene Hall scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field. The Sulphur Springs, Texas native added game highs with eight rebounds and seven steals, narrowly missing the triple-double.
Jaylin Jackson-Posey dropped 16 points and finished a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range, while Nana Antwi-Boasiako and Latrell Jossell each chipped in 14 points.
AJ Cajuste scored seven points and Derrick Tezeno helped out with six points.
The 'Jacks return to The Sawmill on Thursday and host Gardner-Webb at 6:30 p.m.
