NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin hosts Alcorn State in a non-conference bout Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
It's the fourth time the two programs will meet on the hardwood, with the Lumberjacks holding a 3-0 series lead. The last match-up was played December 5, 2005 and it was a 75-57 victory.
Early Statistics
Even though it's a small sample size, the 'Jacks have shown offensive depth. Through two games five 'Jacks are scoring in double digits.
Boasiako leads the team with 17.5 points per game, Sadaidriene Hall is averaging 16 points per contest, Latrell Josell is posting 13.5 points per game, and Roti Ware is averaging 10 points per contest.
SFA has outscored its opponents by an average of 89.50 to 55.50 and forced 51 total turnovers.
'Jacks Improve to 2-0
Nacogdoches native Nana Antwi-Boasiako scored a career-high 21 points and finished 13-for-14 at the free-throw line and the 'Jacks raced past Gardner-Webb 86-71. The 'Jacks went into halftime with a 45-37 lead, and turned on the pressure in the second half and "Press U" caused havoc.
In the final 20 minutes the 'Jacks forced GWU into 10 turnovers, which was turned into 11 points. For the game, SFA forced 19 turnovers, which was deposited as 24 points for the 'Jacks.
On the flip side, SFA committed just 13 turnovers and protected the ball well.
As a team, the 'Jacks shot 49.2 percent (29-for-59) from the floor, including converting 50 percent (8-for-16) from beyond the arc.
Roti Ware came off the bench and added 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field. Ware grabbed six rebounds and handed out a team-high five assists.
Latrell Jossell scored 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor, while Sadaidriene Hall added 12 points to go with six boards.
A Look at the Braves
Alcorn State enters with a 1-1 record, dropping a 73-58 decision at Ole Miss, before rebounding with a 66-57 win at Wichita State.
The Braves are led by second-year head coach Landon Bussie. In 2020-21, Alcorn finished 17-17 overall and 14-4 in SWAC play. The Braves advanced to NIT and lost to Texas A&M 74-62 in the first round.
In its win over WSU, Trevin Wade scored a team-high 14 points and went 5-for-9 from the floor. Dominic Brewton added 13 points and Keondre Montgomery scored 11 points off the bench.

The Lumberjacks were voted to finish third in the both the WAC Pre-Season Coaches' Poll and the WAC Preseason Media Poll.
In the coaches' poll, SFA finished with 111 votes and are 16 points behind second-place New Mexico State, and 10 points ahead of fourth-ranked Abilene Christian. In the media poll, the 'Jacks are slated between NM State, and ACU.

Duo Named to All-WAC Preseason Team
Sophomores Sadaidriene Hall and Jaylin Jackson-Posey were selected to the All-WAC Preseason Second Team, as voted by the coaches. Jackson-Posey was additionally named to the All-WAC Preseason Media Team.
Jackson-Posey had a standout 2021-22 freshman campaign.
The Midland, Texas native appeared in 31 games on the season, starting in seven of those matchups and averaged 22.1 minutes, 7.5 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Jackson-Posey recorded 67 assists, 41 steals, and 25 blocks throughout the year, being ranked in the top three on the team in each of those categories. Additionally, he scored double digits in eight games.
Hall played a significant role for the 'Jacks last season.
Hall in all 32 games on the season, starting in three of those matches and averaged 19.7 minutes, 9.4 points, and 5.3 rebounds per game. A key player on the court, he had the second -best field goal percentage (.578) on the team with a minimum of 100 attempts, third most points scored in the season (300), third most rebounds (170), third most steals (39), and second most blocks (27). The Sulphur Springs, Texas native Scored double digits in 14 games including a 28-point double-double performance against Wiley, and15 points on the board in the senior night matchup against Abilene Christian, which included a game winning jump shot as the clock hit zero.
