Ladyjacks Down Lancers for Their Third Win in a Row

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated California Baptist, 2-1 in conference action Friday night. SFA improves to 4-7-1 (3-2 WAC) while CBU falls to 5-3-2 (2-2 WAC).
The first half was full of action with 11 shots from CBU and nine shots from SFA. With under a minute left in the first half, Carly Wyatt gained possession in the offensive zone and drove into the penalty box. Wyatt then took a shot that rolled past the diving CBU goalkeeper into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Ladyjacks a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The Lancers tied the game up in 47th minute. However, SFA was not done finding the back of the net. In the 54th minute Carly Wyatt passed the ball to Jayme Bailey just outside of the penalty box. Bailey then dribbled into the penalty box and took a shot that gets past the goalkeeper and lands in the bottom right corner of the net to give the Ladyjacks a 2-1 lead. The Ladyjacks were able to fend off multiple attacks from the Lancers as Lydia Sattler recorded five saves after Bailey's goal was scored to secure SFA's third win in a row.
Wyatt and Bailey each recorded a goal, and Wyatt also notched an assist in the game. Reganne Crane led the team with three shots on goal followed by Carly Wyatt with two shots on goal. 10 different Ladyjacks recorded a shot in this game. Morgan Donohue, Bailey, Lily Hargrove, Jamie Jezierski, Teia Haynes, Crane, Ella Morgan, Destiny Ramirez, Avery Brandt, and Wyatt all recorded at least one shot.
The Ladyjacks will be back at The Chopping Block for the final game of their home stand on Sunday, October 9th against Grand Canyon University.
