Volleyball Sweeps New Mexico State on Homecoming

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated New Mexico State, 3-0 Saturday afternoon. SFA improves to 21-3 overall (9-2 WAC) while NMSU falls to 12-10 (4-6 WAC). With this win, SFA clinches a spot in the WAC Conference Tournament.
SFA jumped out to a four-point lead in the first set and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-14 victory in set one. Set two was more of the same for the Ladyjacks as they once again jumped out to a four-point lead, and did not have less than a three-point lead as won the set 25-16. NMSU fought hard in the third set and had a four-point run which gave them the lead, 16-13. However SFA came roaring back and ended the match on a 12-5 scoring run.
Camryn Hill, Ielan Bradley and Payton Cerny led the Ladyjacks with eight kills each. Cerny also recorded her 200th kill of the season, joining teammates Ariana Pagan and Bradley in that feat this season. Maddy Bourque recorded 14 assists, followed by Jayden Flynn who had 11. Pagan and Haley Hoang led the defensive effort for SFA with 10 digs each. Hoang also recorded three aces in today's game including her 100th of her career.
The Ladyjacks will go on the road to UT Arlington as they face the Mavericks on Saturday, November 5th at 12 p.m.
