The SFA soccer team remains perfect in conference play as it defeated Lamar 2-1 on Thursday night in Beaumont. Colleen Feagins gave the 'Jacks the lead off a beautiful cross from Laney Kimble. Feagins then provided an assist of her own off a corner which found the head of Mattie Musser at the back post to double the lead
The goal was Musser's team-high third goal of the season and first from open play. Coincidentally, the assist from Feagins was also her third of the season and leads the team in that category.
The starting SFA backline played the full 90 and did a fantastic job at limiting chances for the home team. Maddie Talbot improved to 4-5-1 on the season, stopping three of the four shots she faced.
The 'Jacks will finish their short two-game road trip with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against UT- Rio Grande Valley on Sunday.
