NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The 2021-22 sports season has begun, and the first few athletic competitions involving Lumberjack programs are getting underway. Both the SFA soccer and volleyball programs will be in action this week, as the Lumberjack soccer team continues its non-conference slate and Ladyjack volleyball kicks off its season in Dallas.
SFA Soccer | @ Houston - 8/26 - vs. Texas State - 8/29
The Lumberjack soccer program continues its tough non-conference slate with a matchup on the road against Houston on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. SFA has opened the season with a grueling gauntlet that has seen them play the eighth-ranked and 16th-ranked teams in the country in TCU and Rice in consecutive games. On Sunday, the 'Jacks return home to play Texas State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m at the SFA Soccer Field. Tickets for Sunday's game can be purchased here.

SFA Volleyball | @ SMU Tournament - Dallas, Texas
The Ladyjack volleyball team will open its 2021 season at the SMU Doubletree Invitational over the weekend. SFA opens play at the invitational at 11:00 a.m against North Carolina on Friday, and then will face the host Mustangs in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. The Ladyjacks will then face Pacific on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. to wrap up play at the tournament.

Other SFA Events this week
SFA Athletics will host a Fan Fest event on Saturday, August 28 at Homer Bryce Stadium, geared towards generating excitement for the upcoming sports season and allowing fans a chance to interact with and meet SFA student-athletes. The event is sponsored by Commercial Bank of Texas, and will take place following a practice session by SFA Football. Fans will be welcomed onto the field, where they can get posters signed by members of the SFA soccer, football, volleyball and cross country teams. After the poster signing, a showing of the movie "Invincible" will take place on the stadium's video board, beginning at 8:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
