Four Ladyjacks Named to Southland Conference Softball All-Academic Teams

FRISCO, Texas -- The Southland Conference released the 2021 Southland Conference Softball All-Academic teams on Tuesday afternoon, and four members of the SFA Ladyjack softball team were recognized among the league's top studen-athlete contingent. Shaylon Govan, Kassidy Wilbur and Bryana Novegil all found their way onto the All-Academic First Team, while Gaby Garcia earned Second Team accolades in her year eligible.
Govan and Wilbur were virtual locks for the All-Academic Teams after being named the Southland Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, combined with strong academic performance off the field. Govan, a redshirt-freshman out of Katy, boasts a 3.5 GPA as a Nursing major, while Wilbur sports a 3.34 as a Kinesiology major. Novegil, a senior infielder out of Houston, earns her first all-academic plaudit with a 3.20 GPA as a Sports Business major.
SFA's lone Second Team honoree is Gaby Garcia, a native of Southlake, Texas who owns a 3.90 GPA as a marketing major.
