NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- SFA junior pitcher Kassidy Wilbur has been named to the JWOS All-American Second Team as a pitcher, according to a national release on Tuesday afternoon. The award follows a special season for the pitcher and Bridge City native, who earns her first All-American recognition after posting a 30-4 overall record in the circle, a total that established a new single-season program record for wins by a pitcher.
Wilbur's record in the circle was buoyed by an impressive 1.08 ERA, 274 strikeouts and a opposing batting average of .179. She pitched 24 complete games and 16 shutouts (13 solo) while leading the Southland Conference in all the above categories. She was also recognized as the Southland Conference Pitcher and Player of the Year in the league, the first time a Ladyjack has collected both honors simultaneously.
The JWOS All-American release consisted of three teams of 18 athletes apiece. Four pitchers were selected for each team, while an additional four "at-large" selections included at the end could encompass any field players or pitchers.
