Ladyjack Softball Adds Transfer Sophie Hannabas to Roster

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Ladyjack softball head coach Nicole Dickson announced on Tuesday the addition of transfer pitcher Sophie Hannabas to the program ahead of the 2021-22 campaign. Hannabas, a native of Mansfield, Texas, joins SFA after pitching three seasons at former Southland Conference foe Southeastern Louisiana, but will take her extra year of eligibility provided by the NCAA and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I'm excited to add Sophie, she will bring experience to the pitching staff", said Dickson. "Our focus has been on strengthening our pitching staff for next season, and adding her makes us confident we will have will have depth and a competitive edge in the circle."
Hannabas appeared in 56 games in the circle for SLU over the past three seasons, making 26 starts in all. After seeing extensive work as a starter during the 2019 season and posting a 3.22 ERA in 78.1 innings pitched, Hannabas saw work in relief during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, going 2-1 with a save. During the 2021 season, Hannabas made 11 starts and pitched 50.1 innings for the Lady Lions, posting a 2-6 record.
Prior to joining SLU, Hannabas was an all-state performer at Mansfield Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas, earning District 10-5A Pitcher of the Year twice. She chalked up a 34-13 record in the circle during her prep career, including a 9-3 record and 1.62 ERA as a senior.
