CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The SFA soccer team dropped a hard-fought contest to the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday night at Dugan Soccer Complex, 2-1. The Lumberjacks and Islanders had battled to a halftime tie, but the hosts got a go-ahead goal in the 59th minute that proved decisive. SFA moves to 6-5-2 on the season and 4-3-0 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game, the 'Jacks were able to equalize on a Teia Haynes goal in the 33rd minute of play. Haynes took an assist from Aaliyah Perez on the play to score her third goal of the season. After the 1-1 draw carried into the halftime intermission, both teams racheted up the intensity in the second half on the hunt for a decisive strike.

In the 59th minute, the Islanders found their go-ahead goal, and despite three shots on frame in the remaining time by the 'Jacks, they were unable to find an equalizer in the contest. Haynes led the 'Jacks with four shots (three shots on goal), while Madeline Talbot recorded seven saves across 90 minutes of action.
