
SFA Handles Nicholls Thursday Night, 3-0

Thibodaux, LA -- After a week of no gameplay, the Ladyjacks (19-4, 7-0) picked up right where they left off after the ACU victory on February 27th, grabbing a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) at Nicholls Thursday night for their seventh-straight Southland Conference win. At first glance, SFA carried the hitting percentage category, hitting .298 (45-114) on the evening to Nicholls's .104 (32-114). Senior libero Maddie Miller (Pilgrim's Player of the Game) provided an excellent defensive performance for the Ladyjacks in this matchup, providing 23 digs, five assists and an ace. Payton Cerny paced the Ladyjack offense with 12 kills on 24 attempts (.375), followed by Leah Powell (8), Ariana Pagan (7), Ielan Bradley (7), and Taya Mitchell (5). Allie Hamsher tallied 19 assists, and Maddy Bourque added 17.
The Ladyjacks took Set 1 against the Colonels 25-19, converting on 14 kills and seven Nicholls attack errors to clinch the first set, including three blocks. There were nine ties and three lead changes in the first set, but SFA continued momentum into the second set going 16-42 (.286), and was able to limit the Colonels to 10 kills on 38 attempts (.105) without a single lead change. Set 3 was SFA's best offensive spurt, hitting .343 (15-35).
SFA continues to lead the nation in team service aces (143) over the span of 80 sets, as three Ladyjacks are in the top 25 in the nation individually (No. 7, Madelynn Miller – 29), (No. 13, Allie Hamsher – 27), (No. 22, Ariana Pagan – 25). Miller is slated No. 6 in total digs (376) as well, only six away from 1,000 total at SFA.
