
Ladyjacks Fall To Utah Valley

The SFA Ladyjacks battled in a tight, three-set match with Utah Valley on Saturday night, falling to the Wolverines (23-25, 19-25, 12-25) to wrap up the conference postseason. The Ladyjacks move to 18-9 overall, highlighted by a second place finish in the Western Athletic Conference Southwest Division.
Valeria Rosado led the way with 12 kills, with Taya Mitchell and Leah Powell contributing six apiece. Pagan registered a team-high 10 digs.
The opening set was a back-and-fourth occasion with 14 ties and four lead changes, as the 'Jacks pulled away early (12-8) before a UVU timeout, soon to be matched by three kills and an attack error to knot the opening set up at 12. Following the mini-run from the Wolverines, Valeria Rosado responded with two kills to put the squad up by two, quickly to be matched once again for a 14-14 tie. All tied up at 22-22 late in the stanza after trading points, the Wolverines were able to clip three of the final four points to clinch it, 25-23.
The game trend in Set 2 was similar from the first in the opening stages, but the 'Jacks called a timeout to regroup at the 9-6 mark to slow down the Wolverines momentum. A five-point UVU lead was critical in this one teed up by a block assist followed by a kill (16-11), as they were able to create another five-point advantage (20-15) to notch its way to two straight sets. In the game-clinching set, the Wolverines converted on a 9-0 scoring run to create a gap and sweep the match.
