I come from France, and my dream came true three years ago when I decided to become a Ladyjack at SFA. Tennis has always been a sport I was passionate about, and I was granted the opportunity to travel to another continent to represent a Division I college as a student-athlete, which has proven to be an invaluable experience. Currently, I'm a junior majoring in Sport Business, and I have combined my love for sports with a major that provides me numerous potential career paths to pursue in the future. I am not sure where I will be in ten years, but I will always remember the cherished memories that I have made on campus including learning American culture, meeting lifelong friends, and competing on a dynamic team. Thus, I could not be more thankful for the time I have spent at SFA.
Through my experiences in America, I came to realize that tennis is more than just an individual sport. When you play a singles match, you play on your own the whole match. The outcome of the match depends on how you perform on the court that day. During the match, you fight for every ball in order to win. After you win a match, you contribute one point to the team for the tournament, so every single point makes a difference in the overall result. Therefore, success depends on how much you push your limits at practice every day not only for yourself but also for the success of the team.Competing in tennis is not only about winning or losing. Instead, the important life skills that tennis taught me, such as controlling my attitude, my efforts, my energy, and my strong connection with my teammates are lessons I will never forget.
Athletics at the collegiate level are often challenging. At times, it is hard to find the right balance between being a student and being an athlete. Normally, my schedule includes waking up early, lifting weights, practicing, and attending class. In our spring season, we have games almost every weekend. I enjoy tournaments week after week that provides me the opportunity to test myself, improve, and hopefully get positive results. It is not easy every day, but it's worth it. I am living in the present day by day because before I know it, I will be walking the stage with my purple cap and gown graduating from the college that has taught me so much in such a short time.
