University to begin immediate search for next head coach
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin Athletics and SFA women's tennis announce the departure of Head Coach Drew Lambert. Lambert now looks ahead to pursuing other professional opportunities. The university will begin an immediate search for the next head coach.
Lambert spent one season as head coach of the Ladyjacks, recording 11 wins and nine losses and finishing 6-3 in Southland regular-season play. The Ladyjack tennis program recorded its first-ever undefeated home season with a 5-0 record under Coach Lambert.
Lambert and company cleared through both No. 5 seed UIW and 2026 SLC Regular Season Champion, McNeese, in the first two rounds of the SLC Tournament before claiming its first-ever back-to-back SLC titles in program history after their 4-3 victory over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Not only did that match notch a huge milestone for program history, but it was also a huge milestone for Lambert as he recorded his 100th career victory that day.
With the 2026 SLC Tournament title secured for the Ladyjacks, Lambert became the first head coach in women's tennis program history to win the conference championship in their first season. Lambert concluded the 2026 season with a 4-0 loss to No. 10 regional host LSU.
