Both SFA mile relays qualify for finals on Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas -- Senior pole vaulter Madison Pecot notched the top overall finish by an SFA athlete thus far and both the men's and women's 4x400 relay qualified for the finals of the event in SFA's second day of competition at the Texas Relays on Friday. The 'Jacks followed up Thursday's debut with a stronger team performance on Friday, and will look to turn some heads in the meet's culminating day tomorrow.
TOP SFA PERFORMERS
• Madison Pecot took second in the women's pole vault with a mark of 4.31m (14-1.75).
• The men's 4x400 relay team of Antonio Ruiz, Isaiah Pittman, Drake Murphy and AJ Bennett clocked a 3:10.79 to finish sixth among the field in the event.
• The women's 4x400 relay squad of Imani Nave, Aaliyah Teel, Madison Compass and Cayla Burch also qualified, finishing eighth with a time of 3:44.11.
• After a late switch to competition at the Stanford Invitational, Kelsey Ramirez ran a 4:28.61 in the women's 1500m run.
AMONG THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE
• Pecot's mark in the pole vault is the top outdoor mark in the Southland Conference this season, topping the previous high of 4.26m by teammate Kaylee Bizzell earlier this season. Bizzell cleared 4.06m in Friday's pole vault competition.
• The SFA women's 4x400's mark beat their previous best time of 3:46.64 to retain the top spot in the Southland Conference.
• Ramirez's time in the 1500m is the top in the Southland Conference this season, and ranks 13th nationally based on times entering this weekend's competition.
NEW PERSONAL BESTS
• Ashton Callahan's time of 10.54 in the 100m dash was a new personal best for the freshman.
