SFA Finishes Perfect Saturday with 4-0 Win over Prairie View A&M

Ladyjacks notch second-straight shutout victory
RUSTON, La. - Putting the finishing touches on a perfect Saturday, the SFA women's tennis team notched its second shutout victory of the day by taking down SWAC opponent Prairie View A&M 4-0 at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex.
With their shutout victory over the Lady Panthers, SFA extended its winning streak to two matches and is one more win from returning to the .500 mark.
DOUBLES
• Despite a spirited comeback try by Prairie View A&M, the Ladyjacks did what they needed to do in order to secure the all-important doubles points.
• Armelle Cerdan and Darinka Tiboldi handed the Ladyjacks an early edge in tandem play with their 6-3 win in the third flight against Lucia Garcia and Claudia Islas Medina.
• Prairie View A&M, however, tied things up when Kyndall Misak and Nida Kamal dropped a narrow 7-5 decision to Jessica Lackey and Jimena Duran-Castellanos.
• Fortunately that was as close at the Lady Panthers would get to grabbing the lead. Gabi Guilarte and Kaja Ljubic gutted out a 7-6 (2) win on the top line over Neharika Rama and Mahogani Green to give SFA the edge it needed.
SINGLES
• Needing only three singles wins to finish off the Lady Panthers, SFA got them from Guilarte, Cerdan and Kamal.
• On the top line, Guilarte took down Garcia 6-3, 6-1. Kamal followed suit on line five by posting a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Green.
• Cerdan put the finishing touches on the win by collecting a 6-1, 7-5 win against Duran-Castellanos.
COMING UP NEXT
• In their final match of the weekend, the Ladyjacks are set to battle Louisiana Tech Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex. SFA is going in search of its first three-match winning streak of the season.
