THE FIRST SERVE
• In a busy weekend for the SFA tennis team, the Ladyjacks head west to Ruston, La., to try and snap their three-match losing skid by taking on a trio of non-conference adversaries. Saturday SFA tangles with SWAC foes Grambling State (10:00 a.m.) and Prairie View A&M (2:00 p.m.) before matchup up with the host Lady Techsters Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Louisiana Tech tennis complex.
• Darinka Tiboldi won her team-leading sixth singles match last weekend and has improved her one-on-one record to 6-4. That includes a 3-1 showing in Southland Conference matches.
• SFA's singles record stands at 22-41 (.349) with Tiboldi the only player with a record above the .500 mark in one-on-one play. Armelle Cerdan has emerged as the victor in five of her 10 singles matches while Nida Kamal got back in the win column last week to move to 3-7.
• Five of SFA's doubles triumphs have come courtesy of the tandem of Gabi Guilarte and Kaja Ljubic. That pair has played all 10 of their doubles matches in the number-one slot.
• The Ladyjacks are 2-3 in non-conference action this season with wins over Alcorn State and Jackson State. SFA has suffered setback in each of its last three non-conference showdowns and is in search of its second victory in the month of March.
SCOUTING GRAMBLING STATE | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• Grambling State comes in with a 2-10 record with both of those triumphs coming against SWAC opponents.
• Imperia Martinez leads the team in singles wins, holding a 4-7 record while playing across lines four and five. She has helped the Lady Tigers go 15-44 (.254) in singles action thus far in 2019.
• In doubles play, Martinez has teamed with Bryttish Burts to compile three of the team's six tandem triumphs. The pairing of Danna Galeano and Idah Longwe have accounted for the other three and as a team Grambling State is 6-22 (.214) in doubles play.
• The Lady Tigers will be trying to snap a three-match losing skid when they face SFA.
SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW A&M | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• The Lady Panthers start competition this weekend in possession of a 4-16 record. All four of those wins have come against SWAC opponents in Alabama A&M, Mississippi Valley State, Southern and Grambling State.
SCOUTING LOUISIANA TECH | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• Heading into the weekend, the Lady Techsters have played just a single home match thus far in 2019. Additionally, they will be seeking to put an end to a two-match losing streak.
• Louisiana Tech's only other home match this season was a 4-1 loss to Southland foe Sam Houston State back on February 25.
• Sonia Chen has racked up seven of the Lady Techsters' 23 singles victories. Six of those seven wins have come on the number-one line and she is riding a two-match winning streak.
• Ana Jover's 5-7 showing in singles play give her the second-highest number of one-on-one wins on the squad.
• In doubles play, Chen has joined up with Claudia Oravcova to go 4-5. Those four wins represent 40-percent of the team's 10 triumphs.
