THE FIRST SERVE
• Looking to build on its first 2-0 start to a season since 2016, the SFA tennis team heads south to Houston, Texas, for a non-conference matchup with Houston on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
• SFA is one of three Southland Conference teams that have not dropped a match this season. The Ladyjacks are joined by New Orleans and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in that category.
• SFA last matchup up against Houston on April 13, 2017, in a showdown that resulted in a 5-2 win for the Cougars. In that match, Kaja Ljubic won her number-six singles flight by forfeit as the Cougars were playing with only four student-athletes.
• Four Ladyjacks - Armelle Cerdan, Ljubic, Kyndall Misak and Darinka Tiboldi - have not lost a singles match thus far in 2019. Each of those players holds a 2-0 record in one-on-one matches.
• The SFA doubles teams of Cerdan/Misak and Ljubic/Gabi Guilarte are each 2-0.
SCOUTING HOUSTON | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• Four of the Cougars' first six matches of the season have gone down as wins. Houston's only two losses have come against Texas A&M (7-0) and Auburn (4-1)
• Three of Houston's four victories have come against Southland Conference squads. The Cougars have defeated Lamar (6-1), Sam Houston State (5-2) and Incarnate Word (6-1).
• Dating back to the 2017 season, the Cougars have won 23 consecutive home court matches.
• Stephan Belovukovic, Phonexay Chitdara and Ndindi Ndunda are all 3-1 in singles action thus far in 2019.
• The doubles team of Chitdara and Sophie Gerits is off to a 3-0 start this spring.
COMING UP NEXT
• To put the finishing touches on their five-match road swing to start the season, SFA heads to San Antonio, Texas, for its first of two matches next weekend. The Ladyjacks are set to take on UTSA in the Alamo City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, before heading to San Marcos, for a 11:00 a.m. showdown at Texas State on Sunday, Feb. 17.
