THE FIRST SERVE
• Following a lengthy two-week break, the SFA tennis team returns to action this weekend by starting up its Southland Conference schedule with showdowns against Louisiana foes New Orleans and Nicholls.
• The Ladyjacks and Privateers are set to do battle at 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Schlief Tennis Complex in a match which also signifies SFA's 2019 home debut. Sunday at noon, SFA ends its two-match Southland weekend by taking on the Colonels in Texas' oldest town.
• Playing in the number-three doubles spot, Armelle Cerdan and Kyndall Misak have posted two of the team's seven doubles wins. That pairing is a perfect 2-0 on the year so far.
• In singles action, Cerdan and Misak have combined to produce five of SFA's 11 victories. Cerdan leads the way with a team-best three singles triumphs while Misak is a perfect 2-0 in one-on-one play.

• No team in the Southland has more wins than the Privateers who have emerged as the victors in six of their first seven matches of 2019.
• In doubles play, the Privateers have been dominant and own a collective 16-3 (.842) record. The duo of Salma Abdelrahim and Brittany Johnson have gone 4-1 on the number-two line while Trang Dao has been responsible in part for six more doubles triumphs. She has teamed with Mar Gendra to go 3-1 on the top line and when playing alongside Ank Vullings that pairing is 3-0 on the number-one line.
• Gendra has been a dominant force in singles play, posting a 6-1 record while playing on lines three, four and five at some point in 2019. Dao is 5-1 with wins coming both on the number-one and number-two lines while Vullings has posted a 4-2 record while competing in flights one, two and three.
• In all, the Privateers have accumulated a 28-10 (.737) record in singles matches.
• New Orleans' lone setback came in its most recent match. At home against Troy, the Privateers fell by a 5-2 tally after dropping five of the six singles matches in the non-conference affair.
SCOUTING NICHOLLS | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• After playing five of their first six matches at home, the Colonels start Southland Conference play on the road this weekend. Nicholls' wins this season have both come by scores of 4-0 as the Colonels got the better of Prairie View A&M (Feb. 9) and Jackson State (Feb. 16) earlier in the year.
• Of the Colonels' nine total singles wins, three have been posted by Antonia Roessli (3-1) who is a perfect 3-0 on the number-four line. Stephanie Barnett (2-2), Mariia Kozachok (2-1) and • Marina Vigil (2-1) have each won a pair of singles matches, too.
• In doubles play, the Colonels are 4-6 (.400) overall. Two of those wins have come courtesy of Roessli and Vigil on the number-two line.

• SFA hits the road for three consecutive Southland Conference matches. That stretch begins Friday, March 8, when the Ladyjacks head to the Alamo City for an 11:00 a.m. matchup with Incarnate Word.
