Rutgers Escapes SFA in Defensive Battle

PISCATAWAY, NJ -- Kevon Harris, John Comeaux and Gavin Kensmil combined to score 43 of SFA's 57 total points, but the 'Jacks fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 69-57 on the road Wednesday.
SFA's overall record fell to 4-1 with the defeat.
Harris led the 'Jacks with 18 points and four steals. Kensmil added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Comeaux chipped in as well with 14 points.
Harris pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the SFA offense that racked up second chance opportunities, grabbing 10 boards and turning them into seven second chance points.
SFA forced 19 Rutgers turnovers. The 'Jacks turned those takeaways into 21 points on the other end of the floor. Harris led the way individually with four steals.

GAME SUMMARY
After falling behind 24-10, SFA went on a 7-0 run with 5:46 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 24-17. The 'Jacks continued to close the gap, cutting the Rutgers lead to 31-26 by the end of the first half.
Rutgers kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 62-49 advantage before SFA went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Harris' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 62-55 with 1:37 to go in the contest. Rutgers responded and outscored the 'Jacks the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-57. SFA took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 31 points in the lane.
