
Bain's buzzer-beater leads SFA past No. 1 Duke 85-83

DURHAM, NC -- Nathan Bain hit a buzzer-beating shot as time expired to lead the SFA men's basketball team over the No. 1 ranked Duke Blue Devils 85-83 on the road Tuesday.
SFA's overall record moved to 5-1 after the victory.
The Lumberjacks had four players score in double figures, led by Kevon Harris, who had 26 points, four assists and three steals. Cameron Johnson tacked on 16 points and two steals off of the bench and Gavin Kensmil helped out with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
SFA shared the ball well in Tuesday's game, racking up 17 assists on 36 made field goals. Kensmil totaled four assists to lead the 'Jacks and John Comeaux also added four assists of his own.
SFA forced 22 Duke turnovers while committing 14 themselves in Tuesday's game. The 'Jacks turned those takeaways into 22 points on the offensive end of the floor. Bain led the way individually with three steals.

After falling behind 38-28, SFA went on a 6-0 run with 4:50 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Harris, to narrow its deficit to 38-34. Duke answered back and added to its lead, leaving the 'Jacks down 45-40 entering halftime.
SFA then got into gear, forcing overtime by outscoring Duke 41-36 in the second half. SFA took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 41 points in the lane.
SFA then took care of business in extra time, outscoring Duke 4-2 to seize victory by the 85-83 final score.
