SFA accrues 18 Top-Eight finishes in competition Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The SFA track and field team competed at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas on Friday, with several athletes notching standout performances. 16 new personal bests were set for the team on the day.

MIDDLE DISTANCE
LaSean Davis and Madison Compass placed fourth and fifth for SFA in the women's 800m run with times of 2:14.08 and 2:15.56, respectively. Drake Murphy took second in the men's race with a school record time of 1:50.78. In the men's 3000m, Awet Beraki finish sixth overall with a time of 8:57.65.

SPRINTS
In the 200m dash, Ashton Callahan finished fifth and improved his PR to 21.72, while Jacob Thomas finished sixth with a PR time of 21.74. Imani Nave took eighth in the women's flight with a mark of 24.42. Aaliyah Teel won her race in the 400m dash, finishing with a new PR of 56.67. Cayla Burch won the 600y run and set a school record in the event with a time of 1:22.96. Burch's time is currently the fourth best mark in the nation in the event.

JUMPS
Mahlon Dawson took fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5-5), while Kadejah Wilson also notched a jump at 1.65m and a seventh place finish in the event. Aolani Harris hit a new PR with a jump of 5.79m (19-0) in the women's long jump, finishing ninth. Competing in the women's triple jump, Raylie Huff leapt to a PR of 12.01m (39-5).

VAULTS
In the women's pole vault, Kaylee Bizzell finished third with a mark of 4.00m (13-1.5). The SFA men finished 1-2 as Antonio Ruiz finished with the top spot and Branson Ellis finished right behind in second. Ruiz set a new PR with 5.52m (18-1.25), while Ellis also notched a personal best at 5.30m (17-4.5). Tyler Stafford reach a PR mark of 4.90m (16-0.75) in the men's vault.

RELAYS
The women's 4x400 relay team of Imani Nave, Cayla Burch, Dominique Jackson and Aaliyah Teel finished fifth with a time of 3:50.60.

THROWS
Trenton Bridges took fourth in the men's weight throw with a mark of 16.50m (54-1.75), while Mallory Dotson took seventh in the women's flight with a PR distance of 15.83m (51-11.25). Dotson also had a PR effort in the shot put, taking third with a mark of 14.24m (46-8.75). Kevin Steward placed sixth in the men's shot put.
