SFA at the Warhawk Classic
This weekend will mark the fourth-straight year SFA has made the trip to Wisconsin for the Warhawk Classic. The Ladyjacks finished third at the tournament during the 2015-16 season, when it was held in the spring, and placed fifth in 2015-16. A year ago, SFA turned in a seventh-place showing out of 18 teams and closed out the tournament with three consecutive bracket play match victories, including wins over 14th-ranked Saint Francis (Pa.) and No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson.
Last Time on the Lanes
Last weekend, the Ladyjacks earned six match wins and collected a pinfall total of 12,483 en route to a sixth-place finish among 17 teams at Sam Houston State's Track Kat Klash in Houston. SFA out-bowled three teams during Saturday's traditional team matches, including earning a victory over fifth-ranked Arkansas State, and claimed the No. 4 seed for bracket play. Four of the Ladyjacks' five starting bowlers in the traditional team matches collected top-20 individual finishes as sophomore Sarah Gill and freshman Carlene Beyer placed in the top 10. Gill knocked down 1,023 total pins in five traditional team matches and posted a 204.6 game average to finish in eighth place among 111 total bowlers, while Beyer was ninth with a 203.4 average and 1,017 total pins.
