
Cross Country Sends 10 Runners to NCAA Regional Meet

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin cross country team will continue the 2018 season at the NCAA South Central Regional meet on Friday morning. The meet, hosted by Texas A&M, is an opportunity for either the men or women's teams to qualify, or for any SFA runners to advance to the NCAA National Championship meet later this month in Madison, Wisconsin. The top two teams advance to the championship meet, along with the top four individuals not associated with those two teams.
Entering the race, the SFA men are ranked 10thin the South Central Regional rankings, while the women are ranked 14thin the region.
The women's 6K race will begin at 9:15 a.m, followed by the men's 10K event at 10:15. Results for both races can be found at the link posted above. A numerous field of over 20 teams will bring new challenges to the mix for the SFA runners. The 'Jacks will race five men and five women in the regional meet, including Southland All-Conference performers Awet Beraki, Titus Kiplagat, Claire Crone and Taryn Surratt.
The 'Jacks are well acquainted with Friday's venue, the Dale Watts XC Course, having raced on it twice this season. SFA opened up the season at the Aggie Opener in August and ran the course again in October at the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
